HOWARD STERN sends message of support for Gay Marriage
April 30, 2009
I’ve been a long time fan and listener of Howard Stern since I was a teenager, and not only is he greatly misunderstood, he’s also one of the most publicly vocal advocates for gay rights I can assure you.
Today he issued a strong message of support for the gay community on his show today that was quite moving for his listeners hetero and homo.

Howard: I was talking to someone recently and they said, ‘Oh you have so many gay guests lately, the show is getting too gay.’
OK — first of all, we don’t have that many gay guests. And my feeling about gay people is that we have a responsibility not only to make gay marriage acceptable and to make gays feel as accepted as heterosexuals, but that we have to hold gay people above all others.
Robin: What the hell does that mean?
Howard: In other words, gay people are downtrodden. They’re beaten and abused for their sexuality. And it goes across race – it’s in the white community and the black community. Gay people are the bastards of the world. And in order for things to change – because anyone of you could have gay children, gay relatives or gay friends –
Robin: And in some countries, you can be put to death for being gay.
Howard: Yes. You know, it reminds [me] almost of the Jews in Europe. In Poland, Warsaw was one of the great cities of Europe. They had Jews and the Jews were very important to the culture of Poland, and elevated the society. And then when the Nazis came and cleaned them out, Poland became what is today – nothing. It’s really…not much.
Now, gay people in our society are responsible for some of the most creative arts, and creative science – and not just the Arts, because I don’t want this to sound like a cliché. What I’m saying is that they’re contributors, they are people who want to thrive and they’re artistic and they’re free thinkers.
So I think we have a responsibility to make [gays] acceptable. We have to get past all this bullshit, so that some gay kid going to high school doesn’t get the shit beat out of him just because he’s gay. And like, what is this hang up with gay marriage, you know? Who cares?!
I mean, we aired a clip yesterday where this guy was carrying on – he’s petitioning, and he’s devoting his whole life to making sure that gay marriage doesn’t happen in his state. And I’m thinking, ‘Geez, this man must have the most empty fucking life.’ It’s just such bullshit.
If you want to believe in God, that’s great. But don’t buy into these religions that were created by man that have all these cockamamie rules that were created by some uptight douche bag.

Artie Lange: And God created gay people, so I don’t know what these religious nuts are even talking about. Look, you can become a Nazi and you could be mad at them for doing that. But you’re not born a Nazi. Every type of person was created by God, so you love them and accept them. Some people think it’s a choice, being gay, but I really don’t think so. I mean, why would you choose to be downtrodden?
Robin: Why would you choose to get the shit kicked out of you?
Howard: Right.
The beauty of the Howard Stern show is that he seamlessly inserts this beautiful accepting and progressive opinion on gay acceptance in between ridiculing Paris Hilton’s self-indulgent Twitter posts and berating a show employee for eating a dead cockroach for $5.00.
Same Sex Couples Win Freedom To Marry In Connecticut

Andew Schneider, ACLU of Connecticut, 860-247-9823 x219
Chris Hampton, ACLU Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Project, 212-549-2673
HARTFORD, CT – The Connecticut Supreme Court today ruled that barring same-sex couples from marriage violates that state’s constitution. The American Civil Liberties Union, which was co-counsel in the case along with Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, applauded the decision.
“Today’s decision makes it clear that it’s unfair to treat same-sex couples who make the same commitments that other couples do any differently,” said Andrew Schneider, Executive Director of the ACLU of Connecticut. “We couldn’t be happier about today’s decision by the court, because it truly fulfills our state’s promise to treat all of its citizens equally under the law.”
That reasoning was evident in the opinion, in which Justice Richard N. Palmer wrote, “Interpreting our state constitutional provisions in accordance with firmly established equal protection principles leads inevitably to the conclusion that gay people are entitled to marry… To decide otherwise would require us to apply one set of constitutional principles and another to all others.”
The case was brought in 2004 in New Haven Superior Court on behalf of eight gay and lesbian Connecticut couples who had been denied marriage licenses. The couples have now been together for between ten and 32 years and are raising a total of 14 children.
The plaintiffs in Kerrigan & Mock et al v. Connecticut Department of Public Health were represented by Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders and the ACLU of Connecticut. Maureen Murphy of Murphy, Murphy & Nugent, LLC and Kenneth J. Bartschi and Karen Dowd of Horton, Shields & Knox, P.C. were cooperating counsel.

Connecticut becomes third state to legalize same sex marriage!

PRESS ADVISORY: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – OCTOBER 10, 2008
MARRIAGE EQUALITY USA CELEBRATES CONNECTICUT DECISION IN SUPPORT OF THE FREEDOM TO MARRY
Media Contacts:
Molly McKay, Media Director, 510-332-0872, media@marriageequality.org
Pamela Brown, Policy Director, 510-384-3655, policydirector@marriageequality.org
San Francisco, California: “Today, the Connecticut Supreme Court stood up for fairness and equality by ruling their state Constitution cannot tolerate a separate institution of civil unions for same-sex couples who as fellow citizens deserve equal protection, including the freedom to marry,” states Molly McKay, Marriage Equality USA (MEUSA) Media Director. “We commend the work of Gay & Lesbian Advocates & Defenders and the courage of eight same-sex couples who sought to end marriage discrimination in Connecticut. This decision recognizes that the time has come for same-sex couples to be woven into the fabric of Connecticut families and to have the freedom to enter into the civil institution of marriage. These couples are part of C onnecticut’s community and are Americans. We call out to the citizens of Connecticut and across the nation to stand together to support this decision and recognize our society is stronger when we are all treated fairly.”
In Kerrigan and Mock v. Department of Public Health, Justice Richard N. Palmer who wrote for the majority of this 4-3 decision stated “We conclude that, in light of the history of pernicious discrimination faced by gay men and lesbians, and because the institution of marriage carries with it a status and significance that the newly created classification of civil unions does not embody, the segregation of heterosexual and homosexual couples into separate institutions constitutes a cognizable harm.”
“As Americans come to know same-sex couples and our families, they see that we share the same hopes and dreams, including the dream of marrying the person you love,” states Pamela Brown, MEUSA Policy Director. “In California, over 11,000 same-sex couples have married in the last three months. Witnessing these ceremonies makes it abundantly clear that marriage really matters to these couples and their friends and families. Excluding same-sex couples from this fundamental right of marriage is wrong. We must do everything we can to ensure Californians will defeat Proposition 8 that threatens to take that right of marriage away and we must fight to defeat similar amendments in Florida and Arizona.”
“This decision supports not only the eight plaintiff couples, but the thousands and thousands of same-sex couples that call Connecticut home,” states John Lewis, MEUSA Northern California Regional Director. “Stuart and I have been together over 20 years and were plaintiffs in the California marriage case. We were married in June and that experience made it unmistakable. Marriage is so much more than just a word, it conveys a dignity and respect that domestic partnerships will never provide and that loving, committed same-sex couples deserve.”
“As we’ve seen in California, Massachusetts, Canada, Spain, and the other countries where same-sex couples can wed, there is no harm in extending same-sex couples the right to marry,” concludes Brown. “As same-sex couples struggle every day with the frustrations and harm caused by being excluded from marriage, and as we see once again our families are being used as political pawns in an upcoming November election, we hope that our fellow citizens reject that prejudice and speak out in support of treating same-sex couples fairly. In the words of Martin Luther King Jr. ‘in the end, we won’t remember the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.’”
Founded in 1998, Marriage Equality USA is a national grassroots organization whose mission is to secure legally recognized civil marriage equality for all, at the federal and state level, without regard to gender identity or sexual orientation . For more information go to www.marriage equality.org.
SARAH PALIN DECLINES TO ACKNOWLEDGE “NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY”

MEDIA RELEASE
PALIN DECLINES TO ACKNOWLEDGE “NATIONAL COMING OUT DAY”
GAY ALASKANS DISMAYED BY GOVERNOR’S REBUFF
(Juneau, AK) — Gov. Palin has declined to issue a formal proclamation recognizing “National Coming Out Day,” in Alaska. Heartened by the Gov. Palin’s positive comments about gays and lesbians in the Vice Presidential Debate, Alaskans Together submitted a formal request to acknowledge the day, which is observed on Oct. 11 internationally by members of LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered) communities and supporters.
“But I also want to clarify, if there’s any kind of suggestion at all from my answer that I would be anything but tolerant of adults in America choosing their partners, choosing relationships that they deem best for themselves, you know…,” said Gov. Palin during the debate.
“Governor Palin called for ‘tolerance’, and we hoped she’d show that type of leadership as Governor with this proclamation,” said Alaskans Together President Marsha Buck. “Coming out is a difficult and deserves recognition.”
So far in October 2008 Governor Palin has issued proclamations for: “Careers in Construction Week,” “10th Annual Christian Heritage Week,” “Biomedical Technician Week,” “Alaska Taiwan Friendship Week,” “World Farm Animals Day,” “Breastfeeding Awareness Month,” and “Grand Opening of Rilke Schule Day.”
“We were asking for the Governor to acknowledge and recognize the dignity of openly-gay Alaskans. We weren’t asking for a policy position, beyond simple acknowledgement.” Buck said.

RE: Where’s the Money???
You sent me an email dated July 15, 2008 where you strongly defended your $125,000.00 donor Doug Manchester, attacked the San Diego Union Tribune and me all as part of a fund raising appeal for your organization. In item #2 (see your email below) you claimed that you raised $100,000.00 and signed up 2,000 volunteers as a result of your email. I was always curious how you could do that before even sending it out, but you have been an impressive fund raiser so I took you at your word. You raised over $1,00,000.00 earlier this year in order to hire the hundreds of professional signature gatherers to qualify what is now Proposition 8 on the November ballot. Proposition 8 would take away our newly attained freedom to marry here in California.
I know that the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) is based in New
Jersey, but I am sure you are familiar with our California reporting laws which require Committees such as National Organization for Marriage to report any and all contributions over $5,000.00 within 10 business days. Well, by my calculation that should have been by July 29, 2008. We have been checking these filings every day with the Secretary of State’s office and low and behold we found a filing yesterday that was dated July 30, 2008, but instead of your claimed $100,000.00 it was only for $20,000.00. That is a big difference. Where is the rest of the money,Brian? Where’s the remaining $80,000.00 that you raised on July 15th??
Please let me know at your earliest convenience.
Thank you very much.

EMAIL TO FRED KARGER
Activists bullying marriage supporters!
July 15, 2008
Dear Fred:
Gay marriage advocates and their union allies have just launched a campaign of intimidation against Doug Manchester and are trying to shut down his business!
Doug, who owns the Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, simply believes that the people — and not a handful of arrogant, unelected, left-wing judges — have the right to decide if marriage is between one man and one woman or not.
And he publicly affirmed that belief by supporting an initiative to put that question on the ballot.
That’s why they’re trying to intimidate him into silence! So much for freedom of speech!
Fred Karger, a gay marriage activist, is leading a coalition that includes Unite Here Local 30, a labor union that represents 4,500 hotel and restaurant workers, in its campaign of bullying and intimidation against Doug’s hotel.
Let me make that point one more time. Gay marriage activists aren’t just asking the general public to boycott Doug’s hotel… They’ve enlisted the aid of a 4,500 member hotel and restaurant workers union to ruin Doug Manchester financially!
According to the San Diego Union Tribune:
“Karger said he hopes the boycott will send a message to other potential contributors… ‘Our goal is to create a business loss for people who contribute. We want to make it a little uncomfortable for people to donate.’”
they keep us from getting our message out by intimidating and bullying people
who believe marriage is between one man and one woman.
And that’s why I urgently need your help right now.
Use these hyperlinks and show gay marriage activists like Fred Karger that you refuse to be intimidated or bullied. Make these bullying tactics back-fire. If you don’t, the campaign of bullying and intimidation will only continue — and not just against Doug Manchester but all those who believe that marriage is between one man and one woman.
1. Click here to send a letter to the San Diego Union-Tribune, publicly stating that you won’t back down from gay marriage advocates trying to bully us into silence. Tell them you plan to stay at Doug’s hotel, just because he was brave enough to take a stand for marriage!
2. Use this hyperlink to tell Karger, his union organizers and his supporters in the media, that this stunt they pulled against Doug Manchester ended up raising $100,000 for the amendment in 24 hours, and prompted at least 2000 new marriage
supporters to join our ranks. Would you give a generous gift of $50, $100, or
even $500 right now to let the voters decide whether marriage should be between
one man and one woman?
(https://www.kintera.org/site/c.htJSJaMQIuE/b.3963301/k.77FF/NOM_California_Donation/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp?c=htJSJaMQIuE&b=3963301&en=5nIDKIMeH1IALHOgG8IEKSNAJfJDLPNsEgKPKWOqEcJQI4J)
3. Plan a stay at one of Doug’s hotels. We can stop Fred Karger and his radical campaign to put marriage donors out of business! The next time you travel to San Diego, especially between now and the election, book a room at one of Doug’s properties, to show that public support for marriage is good for business.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune, Karger also said of Doug:
“This is someone who is giving an exorbitant amount of money to write discrimination into the constitution for the very first time.”
Why does the San Diego Union-Tribune seem to take special pleasure in reporting on these “boycott” and picketing efforts against NOM supporters, with repeated
features highlighting the efforts to silence supporters of the marrige amendment?
And why did the San Diego Union-Tribune let Karger’s ludicrous statement stand without even bothering to challenge it?
At least Jennifer Roback Morse with TownHall.com gave a more balanced perspective of Doug:
“‘Papa Doug’ Manchester and his wife Betsy are devoted supporters of causes that address the health and well-being of children, especially here in San
Diego. Besides supporting the University of San Diego, San Diego
State University, and Cathedral Catholic High School, the Manchesters are significant contributors to the County’s Child Abuse Prevention Foundation, Polinsky Children’s Center, and San Diego Diocesan Ministries. Their generosity has extended to the YMCA,Southern California Boys & Girls Clubs, Scripps Memorial Hospital, and The Burnham Institute.”
And as for Karger’s ridiculous accusation that Doug is trying to “write discrimination into the constitution,” Morse hit the nail on the head:
“Maybe he was thinking that four judges in San Francisco have no right to redefine marriage… Maybe he is concerned that grade school children will be taught about homosexuality.
kids, in accordance with their own values, and their child’s maturity level.
“In other words, maybe Douglas Manchester shares the views of most of the
people of California. The gay rights activists think it is just fine that the Supreme Court of California has run rough-shod over the views of ordinary people. Douglas Manchester, in conjunction with others on the Protect Marriage campaign, has offered the public the opportunity to vote on the subject, an opportunity stripped away from them by four San Francisco judges.
do not hate gay people. Rather, the millions of Americans who pull the lever in
favor of marriage are saying children need a mother and father. The gay
community is boycotting the Manchester Grand Hyatt, because Douglas Manchester has given the people of California the opportunity to express what
they believe.”
Will You Marry Me??
June 18, 2008
Will You Marry Me??
I live in California, which means as of today I can marry another guy.
I’ve been laying low lately. I’ve made the mistake of putting others before myself. However, a noble act, sure, but also shortsighted. I’m no good to anyone burned out. I’m turning my priorities upside down, and putting myself right back at the top for a change, putting myself where I belong. I feel no need to justify this, I’m just doing it. I’m reclaiming my life and living it on my own terms again. I may show up for you or I may not at all.
A friend warned me over the weekend, “Now don’t go crazy and just marry anyone on Tuesday.” He had to say that because I’m a spontaneous character who can lucidly feel the heat of a moment which gets me into hot water, and thus becoming a messy situation to clean up.
I’m on the “market”, an eligible bachelor, a real catch right, elusive, un-get-able, un-for-gettable, boyfriend, husband, substance, one of those hot dad’s you’d like to fuck. :/ Thank you Slade. Taking my time to let the right person in that I feel sustains all distance, space, breathes me in as I breathe him out, who sticks around awhile.
Companionship.
A relationship.
One that I trust above all others.
I’ve stood with him as two, only to find I stood alone as one.
What’s on my mind today? Marriage.
I’ve had four failed serious relationships over the course of my life. I took my time and I experienced loves gained and lost.
I say failed, because they’re not around anymore, but took an active interest in being intimate with other people while with me.
If Marriage is legal in California for everyone, then who is marriage really designed for?
Does anyone stay together?
Could it be my jaded reaction to it is because I just haven’t been lucky enough to meet someone who has the same beliefs as I do, someone who is facing forward with me in the same direction.
Relationships are possible it’s all a matter of keeping your eyes open to that one person who has their eyes open to you.
You can be a whore as long as you’re JUST a whore with me.
Amidst the crowd of 200 people, he steals moments with me over the course of the night reminding me what he said the day before, “you’re a stone cold fox”.
And now he can’t wait to get into bed with me.
He pushes his way through the crowd pulling me away from my group, and off to the side to a quiet corner to plant kisses down my neck.
I say to him in reference to my past: “You think I’m a rose, but my body is covered with thorns.”
He leans in close, “and one by one I pull them all off, and when you lie next to me tonight, I’ll wait for you to fall asleep before I do.”
Then he confessed, “I love your energy, your sensitivity, your emotion. I’ve pulled every bit of linen off the table and as corny as it sounds I just want to make you happy. I’m choosing to give this all to someone that might find this hard to accept, but that’s how I feel and I don’t mean to upset you if I ever did. And if you walk away knowing all those things, I will be a very happy guy, because I can’t deny you, I can’t, I’ve tried, you’re undeniable. And sexually I know it’ll be phenomenal, and notice that I say that last.”
Unthinkable good things can happen, even late in the game, unpredictability is highly overrated.
This lonesome town is now filled with people.
My process of stripping it off, releasing the chains that bind me so I can feel liberated, so I can breathe.
We inspire each other to be active and energetic in our endeavors. We crack ourselves open to one another, and very few people can get to that level of truth as consistently as we do.
Trying to remember those moments that are classic in your life with someone. They are purely unrecorded moments between two people that only the two of you understand.
Intriguing is the word I give him today leaning back inside the chapel walls.
You’ve stolen my heart brother, my love, with one glance of your eyes.
Your love pleases me like wine while I get drunk with you, a spring, sealed fountain, a dream, my thrill and your needs are for me. Put me like a seal over your heart, because our love is stronger than death. You’ll never fear betrayal as long as infinity exists. My love and adoration for you burns like a mighty, blazing fire. With relationships you’re in them together, and now that same sex marriages are legal in California, it’s you two against the world.
So fight it together…
But don’t forget to…
Celebrate.

Gay Marriage Ban around the corner
June 3, 2008
If a Gay Marriage Ban ends up on the November ballot and passes so that people can alter the constitution to their willing, “Marriage is between a man and a woman”, then the constitution becomes null and void. They do not run the show, we do.
I propose a nationwide riot against all people and everyone who opposes gay marriage at full capacity. It’s our time to get mad, get angry and get even. This is a civil riot. All those people for gay marriage will need to violently take a stand, and not take it anymore from these disgusting right wing conservative church going bullies. Enough is enough. People in power are doing nothing to bring people together, so we have to take matters into our own hands. If this bill passes, this country will go down in destruction more than it already has at the hands of less evolved human beings. It’s time for us to get stronger and do something about it. It’s time to fight back hard. Every single one of us needs to find a way to make it known, it’s your destiny to not ignore it and not accept it.

equal. Today’s decision is a huge step toward fulfilling that
promise.
“Celebration is certainly called for, but the fight for equality is
far from over.
“Court decisions may guarantee equality under the law, but the real
struggle is for the tolerance of our fellow Americans.
“This decision by a majority-Republican court signals that it’s time
to put this kind of discrimination and bigotry behind us.
“Unfortunately, not everyone will hear the court’s message. Already,
there is a campaign being organized to overturn this decision at the
ballot box. Californians must put an end to this sort of cynical and
divisive politics once and for all.

FROM JIMMY PALMIERI, FOUNDER OF THE TWEAKERS PROJECT, AND CO-CHAIR OF THE WEST HOLLYWOOD LESBIAN AND GAY ADVISORY BOARD:
Today, we are no longer second class citizens. We need to understand, that in our lifetimes, we have worked hard and have now seen history in the making. The right to marry the person that you love, is a fundamental human right, which should never have been prevented by government interference or religious zealots with quasi-moralistic values. Love is love, regardless of gender. This is a day of celebration, and time to call Governor Schwarzenegger onto the carpet. Let us see if he stands by his words, and supports us, now that the courts have made their decision.
