The No on 8 Proposition isn’t about fighting for gay marriage or same sex marriage, because seriously who really gives a shit about marriage these days anyway, but it is about being treated like everyone else, and no one can deny that the Yes on 8 supporters of 8 showed no human dignity when it came to unity or equality, that’s why this fight is so big. Not to mention they lied, they lied, they lied, throwing that bullshit gibberish on their flyers that they’ll teach about same sex whatever in schools. The Yes on 8 people JUST DID! How many children have you seen on the streets with Yes on 8 signs, you don’t think they picked those up themselves do you? Hate is taught, so let’s all drop a big bomb and blow up all Yes on 8 supporters and their Stepford Wife families. Yay!

“Roughly 400,000 votes separate yes from no on Prop 8 – out of 10 million votes tallied.

Based on turnout estimates reported yesterday, we expect that there are more than 3 million and possibly as many as 4 million absentee and provisional ballots yet to be counted.

Given that fundamental rights are at stake, we must wait to hear from the Secretary of State tomorrow about how many votes are yet to be counted as well as where they are from.

It is clearly a very close election and we monitored the results all evening and this morning.

As of this point, the election is too close to call.

Because Prop 8 involves the sensitive matter of individual rights, we believe it is important to wait until we receive further information about the outcome.”

Remember to Vote No on Prop 8 because only assholes will will vote Yes on 8.  Voting Yes on 8 will increase the states taxes, yes and Yes vote on a Proposition costs you money, including voting yes on Proposition 8 which is unnecessary money.  Most of California and this country to begin with don’t believe in Marriage anymore anyway, and eventually Marriage between anyone will be extinct and obsolute, which is something I’m for in the long run anyway.  It’s a dying law, but whether you believe in Marriage or you don’t, you VOTE NO ON 8, because everyone is to be treated equally under the law.  Only Yes on 8 supporters support discrimination against their neighbor and other human beings, and they manipulate you and they lie to you, by showing a family holding hands to win your heart.  DO NOT FALL FOR IT.  They are violent, they throw their signs at people and they shout out hate words at oncoming cars.  This country does not support that kind of behavior or mindset.  VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION 8 if you have any compassion for your fellow man.  Voting No costs the taxpayers nothing, in fact, the state becomes richer instead, voting Yes will cost the state tens of millions of dollars, it’s right on the ballot because it’s the truth.  The Yes on 8 supporters wanted it off the ballot, because they knew you would read that and go, “oh well I’m not gonna pay just so I can discriminate against my neighbor.”  The ballot also says Rights to People are denied, and most people don’t like that, and the Yes on 8 supporters know this, that’s why they also tried to get that statement of the ballot.  Sadly for them they didn’t win that part of the battle, because that’s dodgy and deceitful which is what the Yes on 8 supporters are, evil human beings, stay away from them, do not fall for them and VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION 8.   As it is love and compassion conquer all and No on 8 is going to win regardless in the end, so you may as well just coax it along, and vote NO ON PROPOSITION 8.

Time is running out. And the polls are getting tighter and tighter.

With less than 48 hours left until Election Day, Courage Campaign staffers are deployed across California working around-the-clock to get out the vote.

I’m in San Francisco, working with Eden inside a buzzing “No on 8″ campaign headquarters. Rick is going to a “No on 8″ phone bank in Los Angeles and Robert is phoning against 8 in Monterey. Todd is canvassing in Glendale. Meanwhile Miles, our graphic designer and web developer, is holding down the Courage fort, on call at a moment’s notice.

Jethro, our videographer, just flew back from Salt Lake City, and is editing video of our delivery of 17,345 signatures to the Mormon Church in Utah. And Lucas is blogging about “The Call” religious-right rally in San Diego, where thousands of evangelical extremists gathered at Qualcomm Stadium to pray and organize in support of Props 4 and 8.

We’ve been working hard for months to bring home a momentous progressive victory on Tuesday. And, with just hours left until Election Day and the polls closer than ever before, we need your help to bring us down the final stretch.

Every time we have asked you to stand up for progressive values and support progressive campaigns in California, you’ve stepped up.

Now, with our resources stretched thin and less than 48 hours left, we need your help to turn out progressive voters at the polls. Whether it’s $25, $250, $2,500 or more, please contribute whatever you can afford right now and help fuel our final stretch run to Election Day:

http://www.couragecampaign.org/FinalStretch

As you know, the Courage Campaign is a people-powered online organizing network of over 100,000 progressives in California. And, with your support, we have accomplished so much together in a very short time:

·         Together, we have raised $85,791 for the “No on 8″ campaign and helped netroots activists raise over $1 million against Prop 8 on ActBlue.

·         Together, we rented an airplane to fly a “No on Prop 4″ banner over Sarah Palin’s rally and millions of voters in Los Angeles.

·         Together, we delivered 17,345 signatures to the Mormon Church, going all the way to Salt Lake City to bring media attention to the Morman Church’s shameful funding of Prop 8.

·         Together, we mobilized hundreds of volunteers for the “No on 4″ and “No on 8″ campaigns.

And, together, we can win on Tuesday.

With less than 48 hours left we need your help to bring progressive voters to the polls on Tuesday. Please dig deep and give what you can afford — whether it’s $10, $100, or $1,000 — to fuel our final stretch run to Election Day:

Together, on Election Day, let’s make 2008 a new era for progressive politics in California.

Are you still trying to figure out how to vote on the California propositions on Tuesday’s ballot?

My friends at the Courage Campaign have been leading progressives in California on the ballot measures this year, including raising $87,741 for the “No on Prop 8″ campaign and mobilizing many volunteers for the “No on Prop 4″ campaign.

All 12 propositions on Tuesday’s ballot will help shape California’s future — especially Prop 11 (more on that below). To help you make your choices in this momentous election, the Courage Campaign has created a printable voter guide that you can share with your friends today.

The “2008 Progressive Voter Guide” includes:

(1) Short, easy-to-read recommendations from the Courage Campaign Issues Committee.

(2) A handy chart of recommendations from nine other leading progressive organizations across California.

(3) A mobile phone guide that you can easily take into your polling place and send to your friends.

Click here to download and print the Courage Campaign’s 2008 Progressive Voter Guide. Then send it to your friends so they can take it with them to the polls on Election Day:

Of course, there are several other propositions on Tuesday’s ballot besides Props 4 and 8. For example, Proposition 11 is billed as a redistricting reform measure, but this “cure” is worse than the disease.

Proposition 11 is bad policy and would be harmful to California. Because Republicans are facing a historic defeat this year, they’ve initiated, promoted, and funded Prop 11 to take control of a legislature they cannot otherwise win.

Prop 11 supporters claim that their only opposition comes from Sacramento legislators trying to protect their districts. That’s not true. Prop 11 doesn’t affect Congressional districts, yet Speaker Nancy Pelosi and many other California members of Congress agree with me that Prop 11 would turn back the progressive gains we’ve made in California and undermine what we’re fighting to achieve.

I’ve lived in California my whole life. I’ve seen California communities fight Republican redistricting schemes for years — because they disenfranchise voters and stifle minority voting rights. That’s why the chairs of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, along with the California Democratic Party, oppose Prop 11.

We can have truly nonpartisan redistricting reform that will protect the rights of ALL Americans. We need a uniform solution that comes at the federal level, one that applies to all 50 states. Unfortunately Prop 11 is not that reform.

That’s why I am joining the Courage Campaign Issues Committee in recommending a “NO” vote on Proposition 11.

This election is about more than who will occupy the White House. It is also about California’s future. Together, we can rescue our state and make 2008 a new era for progressive politics in California.

Thank you for your time.

Growing Opposition to Amendment 2 Among Black Community Leaders

(St. Petersburg)  State Rep Darryl Rouson is the latest African American leaders stepping up to oppose Florida’s Amendment 2, the harmful and deceptive “marriage protection” amendment. Rouson joins with Black elected officials from across Florida, the NAACP and leading Presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama in publicly condemning the mean-spirited ballot measure.

“Along with the very important presidential vote, the citizens of Florida will also be making a crucial decision on Amendment 2,” Rouson said in a press release today. “I urge all of you to vote NO on Amendment 2.  We must protect the civil rights for any group.”

As leaders including Barack Obama have spoken out against the amendment, Black voters are rejecting the measure as a hardship on unmarried couples that threatens to strip away essential benefits.

Senator Barack Obama issued a statement warning: “Florida Amendment 2 does nothing to bring people together and could, in fact, keep people apart and deny millions of Floridians access to basic rights and legal protections. “

In addition to candidates for political office, civil rights champions have stepped up to help lead the fight against Amendment 2. Adora Obi Nweze, Florida NAACP President, was among the first to join the Fairness For All Families Honorary Board of Directors and has been an outspoken critic of the divisive measure.

“Amendment 2 is just another worn out election trick to divide voters and distract us from real priorities.”

“We are tired of these attempts to manipulate black voters in presidential election years. While we may have different opinions on the issue of marriage, we are absolutely united in opposition to adding an amendment to the Florida Constitution that would take away vital protections for all unmarried people.”

                 - Adora Obi Nweze, Florida NAACP President

Reports from hundreds of Vote No On 2 volunteer in the field all come to the same conclusion: when African American voters, like all Floridians, understand the harmful effects of Amendment 2, they vote No.

Fairness for All Families’ Vote No On 2 campaign is a coalition of over 260 organizations that includes seniors, business leaders, consumer and civil rights groups and social justice organizations. We have joined together to oppose stripping away existing employee benefits while barring the passage of future measures to help Florida families.

Courage Campaign Issues Committee Releases New Hard-Hitting Proposition 8 Ad

“Home Invasion” Ad Generated from Netroots, First to Take on Mormon Church Directly

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Courage Campaign Issues Committee, the ballot measure committee that is part of the Courage Campaign family’s online organizing network of over 100,000 members in California, today launched a new, hard-hitting 60-second TV ad that directly challenges the role of the Mormon Chruch on Proposition 8. The ad will air on cable TV stations on Tuesday as a final Get-Out-The-Vote message.

“This hard-hitting satire was created and produced by volunteers in two days last week to highlight and hold the Mormon Church accountable for attempting to dictate public policy to California and invading the lives of Californians,” said Rick Jacobs, Chair of the Courage Campaign Issues Committee.

The ad, entitled “Home Invasion,” features two men dressed as Mormon missionaries ransacking the home of a same-sex couple, confiscating their wedding rings and destroying their wedding license as they are helpless to stop them. The ad was created and produced by Dante and David Atkins, both of whom are California activists and bloggers. The ad been seen widely on several prominent weblogs including Daily Kos, Calitics, AmericaBlog and Wonkette and has already garnered tens of thousands of views on YouTube.

The ad can be seen here:

http://www.couragecampaign.org/NoOn8Videos

or here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q28UwAyzUkE

“We created this ad because Proposition 8 will have devastating consequences for tens of thousands of Californians, and we should reject attempts by religious groups to use their wealth to write their religious views into our State Constitution,” said Dante Atkins, who, with his brother David, wrote, directed and produced the ad.

“The creation and airing of the ad is a strong example of the power of online organizing,” added Jacobs. “The Atkins brothers executed on an idea.  Thousands of Courage Campaign donors made airing of the ad possible.”

Courage Campaign staff have been actively organizing bloggers and online activists in the fight against Proposition 8.

“The Courage Campaign is a people-powered organization that mobilizes over 100,000 netroots and grassroots members in California,” said Jacobs. “We are empowering our members to speak out about their outrage over the Mormon Church’s singular focus on taking fundamental rights away from millions of Californians. This ad is the culmination of that frustration.”

The Courage Campaign Issues Committee has taken a lead role in the fight against Proposition 8. Last week, the group delivered a petition signed by more than 17,000 Californians urging Church of Latter-day Saints President Thomas Monson to cease funding the campaign for Proposition 8. The first petition was rejected by the Los Angeles Mormon Temple. The Courage Campaign Issues Committee then delivered the signatures to the Mormon Church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Web videos of both petition deliveries can be viewed at the following pages:

LOS ANGELES: http://www.couragecampaign.org/MormonVideo

SALT LAKE CITY: http://www.couragecampaign.org/NoOn8videos

Earlier this month, the Courage Campaign Issues Committee also launched a web ad that uses humor to educate voters about the consequences of Proposition 8. The ad “Gender Auditors” can be viewed at the Courage Campaign’s “Pledge to Vote No on Prop 8″ page at:

It is pretty sick that the Yes on 8 supporters say they’re trying to protect children, but they’re actually the ones that are using them. It’s quite terrifying how abusive they are, and hopefully the majority of the state will take over and give those socially and morally repressed sickos a good swift in the ass.

If you look at the Yes on 8 supporters to begin with, they all have this distinct look to them.  They are full of hate and venom first of all.  I’ve seen them in droves.  They’re wacked out sickos with nothing else better to do.  This is one of the most disgusting displays of human behavior that has ever happened in this country.

Yes on 8 supporters are Un-Amercian.  They lie.  They are just like the KKK and all those groups like it.  They are no better than Hitler.  They are responsible for the current decline in humanity.  They are responsible for putting this country in the most despicable place that it is in today.  There is no good amongst Yes on 8 supporters.  They should all be shot dead.  I have nothing but disgust and hate for them.  I don’t even feel sorry for them.  I think they’re hideously ugly first of all.  If they’re not old and white, or white to begin with, they are dumb and black and mexican.  They are unemployed.  They contribute nothing to humanity in positive way.  They are vile human beings.  They are poisonous and they take up space.  They contribute to hate crimes and after this hate crimes agains all humanity is going to rise no matter which way the proposition goes.  Yes on 8 supporters have fucked up this state and this country.  They have no love for their fellow man.  They’ve blown over 25 million on pushing for discrimination when children are hungry, have no food, or dying of AIDS on the streets of Africa because no one will help them.   And this filthy group of Yes on 8 supporters put their money in the wrong place to push for hate and discrimination, instead of helping the children that really need it.  Man that is pretty fucking sick.  I can’t wait to watch them all burn in hell.
If you believe that every citizen of the United States should be treated equally in this country that belongs to every single one of them, then you VOTE NO ON PROPOSITION 8 on November 4, 2008.

Yes on 8 supporters are UN-AMERICAN!

Yes on 8 supporters want to hurt your children!

Yes on 8 supporters want this country to belong to them and no one else.
VOTE NO ON 8!

It would be like giving a child matches.  If elected, John McCain has an unacceptably high chance of NOT completing his term. This would leave President Sarah Palin as the leader of the most powerful country in the world. Check out her own views, in her own words – you will find not a reformer or a maverick but an opportunist, a vengeful power-hungry politician, an uninformed extremist, and a religious fanatic who believes that Armageddon will occur in her lifetime…. and who would have the power to actually make that happen!

These are extremely dangerous and critical times for us at home and abroad, times that call for a president we can trust, who can lead with a calm, steady hand.

President Sarah Palin is indeed OUR GREATEST FEAR.

NO on Prop 8 to Air Two Spots Produced by Supporters for YouTube

Campaign will Become First to Borrow YouTube Talent and Air It

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – 10/29/2008 – In a first for an American political campaign, the NO on Prop 8 campaign will pay to air two spots that were originally produced and uploaded to YouTube by supporters completely independent of the campaign.

“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of talent and creativity that has just exploded on the Internet,” said Patrick Guerriero, NO on 8 campaign director. “People just can’t believe how unfair and wrong this initiative is and they’re creating innovative Web-based viral spots to get the word out to vote NO on Prop 8. We thank everyone who has put their talent and time in spreading the word about the importance of opposing Prop 8.”

The independently produced spots have been a huge hit on the Web. There have been more than 3 million views of videos that appear on the campaign’s YouTube channel. Several spots in the channel have been ranked as “#1 Most Viewed” and “#1 Most Discussed” in the Nonprofits and Activism Category. The channel has consistently been ranked in the top 100 Most Watched Channels.

“The power of all of these YouTube videos is that they represent a chorus of voices, a community of people who may never have met or spoken but share the same passion that discrimination is wrong. They have immediate credibility,” said Chris Maliwat, the campaign’s web strategy director.

Late last week, the NO on Prop 8 campaign approached the producers of two of the spots and asked them to pare down their Web videos into 30-second commercials. The ads, entitled “Constitution” and “Moms,” will begin running statewide tomorrow. During the summer, in a completely organic and grassroots fashion, people independently produced their own messages and uploaded to YouTube.

Background on “Constitution” (www.noonprop8.com/videos)

In a homage to the very popular “Mac vs. PC” ads, this ad features characters that portray “NO on 8,” “Yes” and the “California Constitution.” With a dry comedic edge and perfect timing, the ad successfully gets across the point that amending the California Constitution to eliminate rights is wrong.

A few months back, a number of friends were sitting around wondering how they could influence Californians, in an impactful and respectful fashion, to vote NO on 8. Their answer was to collaborate on a spot that has become one of the most popular on YouTube. The cast and crew donated their services.

Collaborators: Andrew Oldershaw, Dayna Frank, Todd Shotz, Courtney Sexton, Angel Lopez (executive producers); Chris Panizzon (producer); Ray Lancon (writer); Jonah Markowitz (director); and Rachel Morrison (Director of Photography).

Background on “Moms” (www.noonprop8.com/videos)

Moms of all ages and ethnicities, from all over state, speak from the heart and call on California voters to reject the lies, to say NO to discrimination and to vote NO on Election Day. All of the moms are real, none are actresses and all are straight women.

The spot arose out of the collaborators’ frustration over the way in which proponents were targeting women voters with lies and scare tactics. The cast and crew donated their services so there were no expenses associated with this spot.

Collaborators: Yashar Hedayat (executive producer); and Michelle Jackino (executive producer/writer); Pablo Proenza (director); and Ellen Dimler (editor).
